Each day we start with words. Some of them silent in our head like “I need a cup of coffee” or “what shall I wear today”. Throughout the day we use words not only in private thought but also to communicate with others. In our private thoughts we should ask our self a question to make sure our thoughts are leading us closer to God “did that thought Glorify God” . There are only two spiritual beings we can get close too. If our thoughts are not pleasing to God then in reality they are pleasing to Satan. Kind of scary to think of it in these terms isn’t it!!!!
If we find our thoughts are out of line the best thing we can do is to speak God’s word over them. For example, you are angry at a co-worker so instead of lashing out you remember Ephesian 4:26-27 “In your anger do not sin. Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.” Has your anger ever given the devil a foothold and once that foothold was established what happened to your thoughts? What happened to your joy?
Instead you decide first to determine if your anger is legit or is it a past wound you have carried perhaps even from childhood. You decide to calmly explain why you are angry and leave their response up to them knowing you have done the right thing. Easy, oh no!!!
We never have to work at doing the wrong thing. Have you ever heard someone say “I had to work hard today at being frustrated or angry at work ”. Have you heard “I was up all night figuring out ways to loose my temper with my spouse”, of course not.
Although we may be decent people by worldly standards our natural tendency is typically self-serving. Our natural tendency is to be self-centered and selfish making life about us.
Romans 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is– his good, pleasing and perfect will. ( I can promise you Facebook and TV will not renew your mind!!!)
The work comes when we decide to make life about God and to choose to please Him in each moment instead of pleasing our self. So how do we know what to do to please God. How do we know what actions to take. It is all in His word from cover to cover.
Take some time this week to let the Father reveal Himself through His word.

Psalm 119:11 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.
2 Corinthians 11:3 But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ.
Jeremiah 29:13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. This is His promise to us.
