Down but not Out

Down but not Out

When things in life seem their worst and you are thinking “Why did this happen” “This is unfair” “This hurts so much I don’t know how to go on” find a worship song standup up and praise the Lord.

“In His presence, there is fullness of joy.”  Psa. 16:11

“Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.” Psa. 63:3-4

Praise can set you free from your pain – “About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them, and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s bonds were unfastened.”  Acts 16:25-26

The bible is full of promises to get us through any difficulty in life. The way to begin moving forward is to trust more in God than in our ability to figure how, why or what to do. The truth is some of life’s difficulties can not be answered by any human only God.

God is pleased when we praise Him in good times. He is ecstatic when we praise Him in bad times. Why – because it is not normal. Self pity and self absorption is normal reaching out to friends or a drink is normal for most people but we are not most people. We are a child of the most High God. When we worship Him in our difficulty we are saying you are my God and I will praise you for who you are not for what you do. I trust you…
